Dear @meril & @nandinimithun thanks for your FBs.

I just wanna clear one thing here. The incident I narrated happened in 2007, then I was in 9th standard (I am a 90’s kid). All of our family members are well educated yet there were some rigid cultural believes that held them back from discussing several issues freely with their children. Yes, Internet really helps in educating many things but many families from lower middle and lower class still don’t have adequate internet access. From the place where I have come, I don’t find much change in people’s attitudes towards periods even today. Still menstruating women are restricted from many things.

Hey @nandinimithun thanks for sharing your experience I thought I were the only one who would’ve thought it to be cancer:tonguewink:
    .

    Love
    Teenu

:hello:@teenulahari As a boy of 10 to 12 years, I remember during those 3 days my mother used to be isolated in far corner room facing the road side while some fifty feet away our part of the single-room-kitchen-home as one of the three tenants at the back yard. my father used to be on tour far major part of the year, my sister 3 years younger than I, I shouldered the responsibility of cooking and escorting sister to dance class and school etc. thus I learnt simple cooking using wick stove or charcoal oven. No electricity in the entire building. I owe my culinary skills to my dear mother, because in those three days I used to organise, manage and provide timely meals to mom and my sister. compared to other two tenants, we were economically considered to be superior. the training, I had received during those PERIODs stood me good for many years and especially when I remained single away from home and especially when my spouse went to her mother's residence for confinements.. Same way, many of the children of those era learnt house keeping willy-nilly. I think this is redeeming feature of the Period. Now children learn those skills from Uncle Google or U Tube or and friends over internet.
    Best wishes and regards.

Wow @Thyagarajan sir! you are such a good brother & son. Going through your experience I must say it's really a redeeming feature of the periods. Even my dad used to do all the household chores when my mother was out of doors. Thanks for sharing your experience and continuous support for my post.

    Love
    Teenu.

    Teenu....
It was the same thought for me too, when i read your post.... "Aww someone else thought it was cancer"

Thing is, even to this day, talking about menstruation or sanitary pads is like a big taboo.... most women need to do this natural and monthly process in a hush hush manner, like its a sin....
