    Yes... a battle where YOU can steer towards your happiness.

    In the situation you are in; you have submitted the steering to your H and PILs and baffled that its not going your way... I mean, they don't have an obligation to steer where you want to go ( as a family yes, you might have expected that they will, but they decided not to).

    Take power in your hands and let other things go... if you refuse the 'gift' it belongs to them not you...as long as you take they will give in truck loads.

    Taking U.S. born child to India and having no definite plans for return, staying back in India for long or for ever, is tempting but not a wise move.

    This is our perspective. She has a EAD. She is not utilizing her freedom instead always complaining about some purchases she made or they made. It is a vicious cycle. Enough suggestions have been given but for some reason she needs some kind of validation from H and ILs.
    Mom can technically loose her kid if above advice followed. Better to find a job
