This news sent shock waves all over the nation. Such a young boy to think of such a way to take revenge from his teacher???

But after having read countless articles in newspapers and discussions on tv, we really dont know where to stand. Till a generation ago, things like this just did not exist. A teacher was always looked upon with tremendous respect and even if she did criticise her student, the student would take it up as a challenge to motivate himself and do better. But yes, we also have to look at the lifetsyle a generation ago. Parents had ample time to spend with their kids...talking to them and being there for them always. These days, a parent-child interaction has come down drastically what with both the spouses slogging to make ends meet. This leaves the child insecure. More so, there are very fewer joint families now where elders would be there to love the child, and never make his feel lonely and also help him to accept his flaws instead of reacting negatively at criticism.

We just cannot blame the teachers alone as they have to deal with all the parents. It is the parents duty to keep track of the child's progress in school. So, overall, there is not one person to blame, but the entire environment surrounding the incident.

We really hope incidents like this do not occur as this not only affects the child, but will also make a sincere teacher dislike her passion for teaching. Teaching is the most satisfying career. It gives every teacher a sense of achievement and pride to see her students excel.

It did happen in the past too...we didn't have the continuous tv coverage or Internet updates...that is why it feels like it is a new trend.

I remember during my11th/12th years that kids came to college during exam times with knives...the town where my father worked was famous for armed youngsters...and the lecturers and teachers would carefully turn the other way when they saw someone copying...even high school kids did that. You were considered a loser if you objected or didn't copy yourself (because you were showing off!).
