Thamizh Thaai Vaazhthu of Pondicherry starts like this:

வாழ்வினில் செம்மையை செய்பவள் நீயே
மாண்புகள் நீயே என் தமிழ் தாயே
வீழ்வாரை வீழாது காப்பவள் நீயே!
வீரனின் வீரமும், வெற்றியும் நீயே!

Vaazhvinil semmaiyai seibaval neeye
maanbugal neeye en thamizh thaaye
veezhvaarai veezhaadhu kaappaval neeye
veeranin veeramum, vetriyum neeye!

தாழ்ந்திடு நிலையினில் உனைவிடுப் பேனோ
தமிழன் எந்நாளும் தலைகுனி வேனோ
சூழ்ந்தின்பம் நல்கிடும் பைந்தமிழ் அன்னாய்
தோன்றுடல் நீ உயிர் நான்மறப் பேனோ?

Thaazhn thidu nilaiyinil unai viduppeno
thamizhan ennaalum thalai kuniveno
soozhndhu inbam nalgidum painthamizh annaai
thonrudal nee uyir naan marappeno?

செந்தமிழே உயிரே நறுந் தேனே
செயலினை மூச்சினை உனக்களித் தேனே
நைந்தா யெனில்நைந்து போகுமென் வாழ்வு
நன்னிலை உனக்கெனில் எனக்குந் தானே!

Senthamizhe uyire narun thene
seyalinai moochinai unakkaliththene
naindha enil naindhu pogum en vaazhvu
nannilai unakkenil enakkum thaane!

முந்திய நாளினில் அறிவும் இலாது
மொய்த்தநன் மனிதராம் புதுப்புனல் மீது
செந்தாமரைக் காடு பூத்தது போல
செழித்தஎன் தமிழே ஒளியே வாழி!

Mundhiya naalil arivum ilaadhu
moiththa nan manidharaam pudhu punal meedhu
sindhaamarai kaadu pooththadhu pola
sezhiththa en thamizhe oliye vaazhi!

I didn't translate this song too as it is in very simple terms.

Its author is none other than Puratchi Kavinyar Bharathidasan.

That was beautiful poetry. I have read a lot of Bharathidasan's poetry but not this one.
The words are so simple and you don't need a Konar Notes to understand the meaning. And yet they somehow touch your heart. Particularly to me, for I am back from Kamban Vizha where I heard the Solomon Pappiah group roar about Kamban for more than 2 hours.

Excellent!! You know what...my place of birth is Pondy cherry. And my mother had multiple opportunities to speak to Bharathidhsan sir and I remeber she showed her photo with him once long back.

Happy to know my other Tamil Thaai Vazhthu.
