    What about the situations where many Hindu sons want to run aWay from their ageing parents because of their nonstop drama in son's life. They prefer to handle their responsibilities towards parents but by being away from them. Do parents go to the court against Hindu sons for this? But, god forbit, Now suddenly when a Hindu son gets mArried to a girl, parents start blaming poor girl for keeping the son away from them. It's too generalistic situation to create one law, too superficial without valid number of similar cases handled successfully, with the presence of truthful investigations and thruthful witnesses. I wonder if the the judges were too focussed on either their own experiences or the nonsense TV dramas while approving the law. Let us see how it gets challenged in the future.

    what about the sons who try to separate daughters from their parents?

    @hermitcrab,
    same is my situation . wonder if there is any serious punishment. you know what i showed him the garudapuranam which states if you torture your wife /family you get thrown into lake of crocodiles/snakes and will be punished very heavily.,
    got to see if that brings any difference in him.
    Also another reminder would be the mangalsutra in my neck. it has two which states one for marital family and one for parents. it keeps contantly reminding of that. so there is no rule anywhere that girl should forget her parents after marriage. it was just invented by inlaws for their convenience.

    @curiousgals78 & @hermitcrab there is no such rule. Does this rule exist for their DDs & for MILs? If no then no such rule exists for DIL. My MIL told many times indirectly that they have no responsibilities for me. Then I asked my DH, then how did grandparents have responsibilities for MIL?

    MIL has 3 daughters, one lives with them- with her daughter.
    One lives in next street, visiting twice in a day
    One more is always visiting too.
    All grandkids are girls (16+yrs) visiting, staying.

    All rules are for DILs :tearsofjoy:
