we used to love Madras saravana bhavan.......in decatur.but recently i dont know what is going wrong food is too bad....i am sure if they continue this they will soon close down......they have a good name in tamilnadu.....and maintained it so far but now going down drain.....we know they have started a branch in johns creek not yet tried there any one tried there? so we are in look out of other south indian resturants......any good suggestions?

    Hi sspp,

Yeah the same happens for JohnCreek branch too... I used to love their taste in JohnsCreek when they opened.. Then it slowly went to more salty, more spicy food..
    So I stopped going there.

I've heard Woodlands is good , but havent tried after the new re-branding.

Other than that our default location is "Cloves" in Suwanee.. I love their food.
#2 is Royal . Though I've not had food there, I know ppl raving about it.
#3 is Madras Chettinad . Their sambar is good.

I dont know anything in Decatur or downtown..

    Ranchu ,
Royal used to be good. They are not good these days.

Woodlands is ok , not a big fan these days.

    sspp,

Right now the one which has a good reputation and recommendations is Madras Chettinad. We have had food there and in fact catered y'day from them. They are real good.

    :)

    Nive,

Is it .. Yeah I heard the same about Royal too..

Woodlands in Decatur , I dont know. I've not been there, but prior to woodlands they used to be in Stone-Mountain called as "Madras Ganesh Ram " . That was fabulous food. Pure veg restaurant. We would travel 40 miles on weekend just to eat their food .

Yeah I vote for Madras chettinad too.
Have you been to "Brindavan" (sai Murali). After the name change I havent been there. Sai Murali used to be economical and good .

I have had food from Brindavan , but have not gone there. The food was ok.

Plus recently we read the news that the owner passed away ( guess 3 weeks back). The restaurant was closed too for a day. Any idea about it??

Please sspp , don't ever go there. It's as bad as one can imagine :(.

Madras Chettinad has both veg and non-veg cuisine. Try their buffet on weekends. The best :)
