Stitching for Dhoti Suit

Does anybody know how to sew or draft a Dhoti Suit of a similar design to the one pictured here?

I would like to make one for an adult that is not a wrapped dhoti, but looks much like one in this picture, which is to say pleats in front with a border, and also pleats and border in back, with a belt and either an elasticized waist or a drawstring waist that you just step into and fasten. My son had one when he was little, but I don't want to tear it apart just to see how it is made. I see patterns and designs for what is called a dhoti suit on the Internet, but it is something also known by the name "cowl pants" and that is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for something that more closely resembles a real dhoti, but you can just basically step into and pull up, but haven't the slightest idea how to make it. Can anybody clue me in?
