Last week I had the misfortune of seeing it and that too consequently for 2 days. Well here is what I saw.

Day 1: There was this couple who have been separated. The lady ran away from home due to frustration and claims her husband is having an affair with someone and she could not tolerate it. So when she ran away she left her 2 children behind. Now she wants to meet her children and her husband is refusing to show her the children inspite of police complaint and the request by the police to show her the children. At this point her husband is introduced at the show. The compere asks him if the children are fine and why in spite of repeated pleas from the mother he is refusing to show the children. He claims his wife is not of good character and all kinds of nonsense. At this point one of the women who have come with the lady gets up and slaps the man in full view of the camera.

Day 2: Yet another couple with some marital problems. Here again the 2 children are left with the grandmother (guys mother). The Lady lives with her parents. The Grandmother gave a sorry story telling that the children cry for the mother but the mother does not care etc. She was a very good and loving mother in law. The man too claimed that he took very good care of his wife and does not know why she had to leave him etc…. At this point the lady was called in. The children nor she showed any reaction of love towards each other. This lady claimed her husband physically and mentally abused her. (She was already married to someone before). He use to come home drunk and 3 times he has poured kerosene on her and tried to set her on fire along with his mom. So she could not tolerate it any further and left him. At this the compere says “Physical abuse by a husband is common and should be tolerated by women. She should have seen it happen everywhere. Then is it not her duty just of the sake of the children to tolerate her husband”

This was more than what I could take and walked out of the room.

What are we viewing on TV. How can you show someone being slapped? If you are bringing in 2 parties to get each ones view, is it not the right of the TV Company to take care of that such things do not happen. The crew should have come in and avoided such nonsense. In the second case how can you make a judgment to say women should tolerate abuse even if it is for the children. WHAT RUBBISH. Who are we to judge the case? There is a court of law to decide on this.

I feel very strongly about this. :rant What do you all think??............
