    Hi Sudhakrishna,

One of my daughters have taken up skating and learnt it for a year. As with any physical activity, Skating is good for the fitness.
Regarding ankle and knee injury the skating kit comes with protection caps which helps to avoid injuries even in case of a fall.

Well as am based in North India, am not sure of the skating classes available locally in Bangalore and you cna try posting in those local forums to get more information.

    hi,
my 7 yrs old son learned roller blade skating for a year now.he loves it.
you can get knee pads, elbow pads for protection.
there is kid's helmet too but my son's instructor did not let him wear it.............

learning new things boast confidence in kids & should defenitely be encouraged.

    Hi Sudha,

The easiest and simplest way to learn roller skating is to go to a sports shop and get a pair of roller skates. It doesnt need a skating ground as such. Kids can skate at home provided the flooring is suitable. This would help you in avoiding searching for a skating school. Also its rather safe to skate at home and wont lead to injuries for sure. So you would not have to worry about injuries too. So stop worrying and get a pair of skates home. And yes happy skating for the kids.
