- A bit tensed though, because its brocade and its a gift for some one I hold in high regard. Praying I make no mistakes.

With brocade material seams fray a lot.Keep seams a little bit more. cut lining and the brocade material together. baste them together.Do the same thing for each part.Do not use a very small stitch.Do not worry. Do it slowly.you will do it well.

Thankyou for the tips, mam.
I've done as you said.
Now another prob- I've joined the shoulders together but it does not fall down like cotton- the shoulders blow up - I'm wondering if I should run a stitch along the shoulders(on the correct side)????

Also, will it be nice if I do sleeveless kurta for the lil one( He's only 9 months now- but I'm doing 1 yr measurements) so that it will be more comfortable for him & easier for the parents to make him wear?
I'm doing full sleeves for the older one who is 8.

Salwar will have pleates attached to waist band at the top.Chudidar will be similar to pyjama at the top and narrow at the bottom

There is no rules that a perticular dress should be stitched in a particular manner unless it is an "Order' Then you have to satisfy customer.You can top stitch if the shoulder line does not sit in place Put 2 parallel rows of stitches one near the joint and an other little bit away.One more thing, I have shown the method of drafting sleeves and arm hole in the above draft.It is applicable to other dresses also.This is the basic sleeve draft.
