    When Cheenu was very young
he went to Salem to attend the concert of Dakshinamurthy pillai. After the concert Pillai asked the young boy to sing a song. He felt very happy to sing before a great Vidwan. When the young boy completed the song, Pillai said" you sang nicely. But the sound " sarak sarak' is coming from your voice which is like that of scrapping the coconut with full force. Then the great singer advised Seenu' s brother" Don't allow this boy to sing, since his voice will never be suitable for vocal. If he wants let him learn violin".
Hearing this remark from a great vidwan, The young boy became upset for a few mts. But these remarks made him take a challenge
that one day he should become a popular vocal singer. The discouraging remarks never deterred him.He practised and practised. Whebever he committed mistakes he got nice beatings & abuses from elders.
But more and more he was criticised, more and more he became determined.
Ceaseless efforts, inspite of not being gifted with a good voice, elevated him to the highest rank of " Sangitha Pitha maha"- Semmngudi Srinivasa Iyer.
    Practice makes perfect.
