Water is life. Water is scarce. There is no rain. Let us try to conserve water in our house with the following tips : a) Run the water pump minimum times to conserve the underground water and reduce the overflow from the water tank while pumping. b) While brushing teeth and shaving, don’t open the water tap continuously. c) Use minimum water while cleaning utensils. d) There is ample scope for saving water in the toilet. e) Don’t shampoo hair too often as it requires more water. f) Don’t use washing machine unless minimum clothes are there as washing machine requires more water. g) Don’t clean the portico daily with water. h) Don’t wash your vehicles very often. i) Think of eliminating your fish/tortoise aquarium,pet animals and birds to minimise water. j) Reduce the quantity of pot plants on the roof and garden. Regulate the frequency of watering the plants depending on necessity and not on daily basis. k) Always water the plants in the evening. l) Nowadays,people put tiles in the house compound area for beauty which prevents water harvesting. A portion of area should be earmarked for grass cultivation which can ensure underground water harvesting.
