    Roshan lived for just 50 years but he has given us melodious music for around 20 years. His music has made him immortal. The famous actor Hritik Roshan is his grandson. Roshan started his music composition when he was around 30 and he continued to mesmerism us with his music till his death. Let us hear his lilting music now:

    Sung by Lata and Hemanth Kumar in the film Mamta

    Sung by Rafi for Aarti (1962).Ashok Kumar, Meena Kumari and Pradeep Kumar were the leading stars of the movie.

    Film Barsaat Ki Raat. Sung by Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Manna Dey, Sudha Malhotra

    Oh, how beautiful :) As I am sitting here at work, I am taken back to my childhood back in India when we would eagerly wait for Rangoli on Sunday mornings for the 30 minutes of such blissful music!!

    While Rafi is a favorite, I have a slight bias towards Manna Dey and the extremely handsome Talat Mehmood... I just feel their singing is too flawless and speaks right to the heart.

    So here's 2 of my absolute favorites from these 2 masters of their craft -

    Laaga chunari me daag. Just love the jathis (the taans?) in the song. Manna Da has to be the absolute best -

    Mein dil hoonh ek armaan bhara -

    Chhupa lo yun dil me pyaar mera and mann re is a constant on my playlist and is a song I often croon to my daughters at bed time. My biggest wish is for my daughters to enjoy the music I have so enjoyed growing up, so adding all of these to play for them often!! :)

    Dear Geeta
    I love both songs. See how young Ashok Kumar is! I have seen him in fighting roles too!

    @peartree
    Dear peartree
    I too am a mad fan of Manna Dey. There is an unbeatable manliness about his voice. Md.Rafi could reach high octaves with perfect ease. And Talat had a smoothing mellowness. But Manna Day was my greatest favourite. His 'kaun aya mere man ke dware' is my all time favorite. Talat's jalthe hai jiske liye is his best according to me
    . All the three singers we're great assets of Indian music
