Relieved?

He was in the last lap of his journey to home. A month long vacation is what he looked to, after a gap of two years. He did not even want to think about the day he boarded the plane two years back. He was looking dull then and many thought he was homesick. For, it was his first international trip. Only he knew the real reason.

He was a loser, in just one thing that was enough to haunt him then. Being a topper in school and a gold medalist in the university meant nothing to him. Initially he was lost in love and later, he lost his love. They couldn't just marry. He was accusing that it was all her fault then. But realized her situation, after she left him.

He worked hard and denied himself a vacation in the first year, but lied to his parents that he did not get one. And spent 15+ hours in office for many months continuously. Finally, when he felt a bit ok, he applied for a vacation, and was about to reach his parents. Then he heard that announcement. The flight to his place was delayed by an hour. He was very angry then. Cursing everyone and everything around, he went to the coffee shop. Suddenly something shook him. "Was it she?", his mind asked him. Feeling a sudden deep pain, he took more than 5 minutes to take those few steps to the line where she was.


And was relieved that it wasn't.
