Yes, I prefer Indian homes to Western ones. Also the food, the weather, the flora and the fauna, the ease of home delivery, the cheapness and the e-commerce.

I dislike the pollution, the crowds, the traffic, the lack of privacy, unlawful coercion, having to know people in order to survive and all the other facets of India described in the posts in our back and forth.

Yes, certainly - with appropriate fuss about what a difference it made at the time and some token of appreciation added. My philosophy is this: I do not want people to become jaded about helping others. If someone helped me, I would not want to behave in such a manner as to make them think twice before helping someone else. Even if my creditor can afford to lose the money, the idea is that it ought to go to a more deserving recipient. So, a measure of graciousness is in order in acknowledging favors and debts, without appearing to keep score for everything. This is one way of spreading good karma!

The borrower ought to return it ASAP. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

Unless the giver specifically says it's a gift, cash should always be returned.

    If they don't return it ... :icon_writing:.

The wet bathrooms where the swipper is used more often than the soap.
My parents and in laws are forever ranting about the lack of good servants specially for cleaning the bathroom .

Both got their bathrooms renovated recently .We tried telling them to get dry bathrooms for easier maintainance ,( gave them print outs of bathroom designs)but why would the oldies listen to any one.

The most importance was given to open space....khulla khulla bathroom . The bathrooms have the pot in one difficult to clean corner....the basin in another corner and the shower and taps in the centre with the entire bathroom open for the showering performance.
Everytime you shower ,it looks like a dozen monkeys had a shower there. The pot ,the basin ,the floor ,every thing gets wet.
Shower curtains are out of question because (now we will have to wash the curtain too...why increase work:cool:)

Off course they got new matching swipper for the new bathroom .

I agree with the oldies. Nothing like a khulla khulla bathroom. The Indians have it right.
