    It's not wasting their life.
Kids come first for any woman.
The issue is, its difficult for them to remarry in Indian societies as you have mentioned above.
Its better to be single than live in an abusive marriage.

Old saying (in many south indian languages):
When a husband dies, there is a widow.
When a wife dies, there is a new bridegroom.
Younger women, divorced or widowed without children have a much better chance of a 2nd marriage. Especially if they are employed, and has the opportunities to meet more prospects.

Yup, this will change- not out of behavioral change but by the chain of events.

Attached, is the pic of child sex ratio over the decades; as you can see, it worsened further, thanks to technology.

This ruthless prenatal killing of the girls- they carried on assuming there won't be consequences; and it comes to bite them when they are seeking a bride for their son; it's only going to get worse (less and less 2001-11 born females coming to the marriage market compared to male).

In a recent matrimony meet arranged locally, there were 2000+ male horoscopes registered Vs 60 females. The muted advise to guys over 30 now is that they better be willing to marry divorcees; how many actually do that, I don't know.

PS: Funny that one evil that prevailed is rooting out another evil- the huge population of India; with guys getting no girls and women getting a say in the number of kids, the growth rate has slowed down to near replacement levels (except in Bihar).

Out of three men I mentioned in #890, two married unmarried woman, one married a widow. Even though statistics is like that, men always get unmarried woman to marry, it seems. How:confused:.
One thing is sure, many men now a days are not getting brides, because of their low income and education. Most of the educated women prefer educated and well settled boys. Finally those in 30's have to cross boundary of state to find bride from another state in India.

Have you seen this movie- an eye opening moving on the declining women's ratio on wedding scenario "Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women"

China's one child policy created a much worse situation in China...
However, there was a solution. They can import what they lack.

For poor people, there could be imported products at a different price point..... from much poorer countries. Are there poor countries near India with excess populations of women ?

Beyond a point, it's then growing beard, buying a Royal Enfield and taking that Leh trip to find meaning and purpose in life!

Pakistan, Bangladesh too has shortage of women, but not as bad as India.

counting Likes and the ratio of Likes/Posts are venerable timepass in forums. : ) In my rarely humble opinion. : )

In fact, it was a very endearing analysis and posting of the same by Thyagu in Gabfest. : )
