    Hi Ladies,

I have been on progestrone 200mg a day taking orally since I conceived. My doctor told me to stop taking it when I had NT scan at 12.5 weeks. I am still continuing it as I had one miscarriage before. I would complete 14 weeks by tomorrow. Please tell me if it is safe to continue. Is overdose of progestrone safe for baby as placenta also produces this?

Please check with your Doctor once before continuing it, because high levels of progesterone may increase the risk of developing breast cancer.

    Hi,

I am also taking the same due to previous miscarriage. My doc told me to take it till 16 weeks. After 16 weeks, I will be getting weekly Progesterone injections.

Please consult your doc. Do not take medicines by yourself.

@chs30: typically in high risk cases, the progestrone is prescribed till week 16 and then stopped. uunless there is a specific reason like bledding, cervix issues, etc doctors rarely recommend beyond 16 weeks on a regular basis.
