    Tangential question:
Is stainless steel dishwasher safe? I wanted to ask you folks.
I'd think no, but then what do I know :)

    Wait a min...
Looks like some grades of stainless steel can go into a dishwasher - others cannot! Now I scratch my head! Will look for info from you knowledgeable folks!

    Spidey,

i am wondering at the font change in the second line..does that indicate your assumptions or your doubts..but sure catches the eye of the reader..looks like you are watching too many ads with smaller fine prints and disclaimers..too much cricket?? (just kidding)

I am told that stainless steel, and our apna reliable prestige cooker also goes into dishwashers. recently somebody known to us went for a dish washer because the maid was irregular..and theirs are solid old time vessels..so that should answer your query.

but in my opinion our hands are the best options..and somebody else may say giving lakshmi/kanta few more bucks saves lot of headache...

Font change was since I was just thinking out aloud to myself (sorta').
Too much kirket? yeah, certainly and thats the way to go :thumbsup

Hands may be good option, but time consuming and more effort. We use dishwasher extensively, and hence I need to find out abt Stainless steel storage containers and dishwasher compatibility. What Lakshmi/Kanta in US? Thats just the two of us roleplaying as the maids at home, ROFL! :)

    spidey,

now we were talking about india..not about any other parts of the world. and fyi, some of my friends do take a maid from india abroad..atleast in the far east and middle east.

I have been relying on my hands alone until 3 years back when my doctors passed an ultimatum to me..and i did blog about it too.

With water shortage going to be a fact of life in india i am sure we are in for days when recyclable disposable kitchenware is going to be the in thing.

I sometimes get stainless steel container from India to US, and hence my question on compatibility with dishwasher for stainless containers.

Maid from India - I cant get them unless we can teleport them :)

Thanks for the blog link, I'll read about what you have written.

I think it is definitely safe. i will come back on that after asking my friends, who are using them.

and btw, your signature is too negative.. let us think positive..agreed it is food for thought because of the ways of the world. (just my opinion..)

Thanks, do update the thread or PM me if you find out from your friends.

It is more tongue in cheek, wasn't meant to be negative.

I use dishwasher to clean all my stainless vessels, glasses, pressure cooker and mixie jars :hide: at times. It is completely safe provided you do not overload the dishwasher with too many things that will tend to make scratches.
