Dear All, Happy to read this thread in total - with so much of enquiries and information pouring in & out. I have a query to all you people. We are based in UAE - and planning (with hope) to shift to Qatar - god willing!! My hubby is in discussion with a company for a good opening there. Query is - in UAE, medical insurance card is provided by company itself - which covers complete medical expenses - incl. Maternity. Hence, we don't have to plan or worry about medical issues - and delivery expenses. The company my hubby is discussing - sees medical not covered for family. What is the system in place in Qatar for medical for family. If we have to take medical (which includes maternity also) how much it costs.. Please advice me at earliest, which would help my hubby in negotiating the salary with that company. Regards, CS
Hi CS, Its better to get the medical insurance for family covered by the company. I don't have idea about how much it will cost for a medical insurance. But, for delivery in a private hospital for C-section, you need to spend up to QR 20,000. One of my friends here, recently had a C-section and it costed them QR 16,000.
