    Hi

I dont know about Prabas hair care treatment but met her once .. she had gorgeous hair !!!

My experience with Dr Batras has been very good .. tho the treatment is expensive, I did find some improvement .

Only problem with Dr Batras is .. the number of hours you will have to wait !!

    Happy 'hair growth"

    cheers

I guess there is no way to make grow on the hair. It all depends on one's genes. One can help to arrest the hair fall. But if one starts to have a healthy diet etc. from an early age, it may help. Eating an amla raw everyday would help in having healthy head with healthy hair.
One best thing is consult a dermatologist, may be Kaya Clinic. But I think it would be more expensive that V care.

Hi, i'm not sure abt the clinic you mentioned. But here's something you might find useful.

One of the key reasons for hair fall are the chemicals in the shampoo specifically, sodium lauryl sulfate or ammonium lauryl sulfate etc. Here's a link to a website that carries recipes for home made shampoos and conditioners. The website is all abt "going green".

Personal Care : Hair Care :: Green Living at Care2

Apart from this, here are some other tips that i came across in various websites:
    1) Do not wash ur hair in very hot water, lukewarm will do.
    2) Do not rub ur wet hair with the towel, apparently, hair is weakest when its wet, so it breaks easily.
    3) Do the oil treatment mentioned by above regularly, and massage your scalp frequently to stimulate blood circulation.
    4) Take ur vitamins/iron supplements if needed
    5) Use a wide tooth comb to detangle wet/damp hair.

    Hope you find these useful.
    Cheers

For all those worried about hair loss this article might be of help. I plan on visiting a trichologist after reading this article.

Visiting a Tricholgist For A Hair Loss Diagnosis

A professional trichologist is a certified hair and scalp specialist. He or she can help treat problems and recommend how to grow the healthiest hair possible. If you were to visit a trichologist complaining of thinning hair, you could expect the following type of examination:
    Questions First
First, the trichologist would gather some personal information including your health history. She would pay particular attention to any health issues you had experienced within the last 2-3 months including: illnesses, beginning or ending medications, childbirth, breastfeeding, diet, stress, and regular menstrual cycles. She would also ask about your family’s health history and whether your relatives experienced any significant hair loss. Next, the trichologist would ask how you care for her hair: what types of products you use and how often, whether you chemically process your hair, swim regularly, or wear your hair in any tight hairstyles.
    Physical Exam
The tricholgost would then physically examine your hair and scalp to look for any signs of patchy hair loss, scaling, swelling or redness. Once she had ruled out those symptoms, she would begin to examine you for a condition called diffuse hair loss - thinning caused by hair loss from all over your head.
The trichologist would run her hands over your hair to check for signs of thinning. She would then gently pull on your hair in several different areas to see if it indeed came out easily and in quantity. At the same time, she would ask when you last washed or brushed your hair and explain that it’s perfectly normal to lose up to 150 hairs a day, many of them while shampooing or grooming. The trichologist would save the hairs she gathered in an envelope marked with the your name while explaining that she would examine them under a microscope after the appointment. She would then take several digital photos of your hair to upload to her computer.
At the end of the initial appointment, the trichologist would explain that she suspected diffuse hair loss (telogen effluvium). She would set you at ease by explaining that you would not go bald with the problem and that she may be able to correct the cause and restore your hair’s thickness. She would schedule a follow-up appointment at which time she would report her findings.
    Making The Diagnosis
When examining the hairs under a microscope, the trichologist would look to see if there were white bulbs at the ends, indicating telogen hairs (hairs in the "fall out" phase). She would also check for small anagen bulbs (hair in the active growth phase) without root sheaths, which would indicate a condition called loose anagen syndrome. Lastly, she would look for signs of breakage, which could indicate anagen effluvium, or chemical or mechanical damage to the hair.
If the trichologist determined that you were suffering from breakage and appeared to have no outstanding health or nutritional problems, she would recommend gentle care of your hair at home and in the salon, as well as protecting it from UVA/UVB rays.
Breakage due to signs of fungal infection or inherited defects would require further investigation and a gentle explanation that there is no treatment.
If the hairs appeared to have fallen out in the active growth stage ("anagen") and you had undergone cancer treatment (radiation, chemotherapy), or may have been exposed to toxins, the trichologist would tell you that the hair loss should stop 2-3 months after either the treatments stopped or your doctor treated you for toxicity.
If the microscopic evidence suggested loose anagen syndrome (anagen bulbs with no root sheaths), she would treat it by suggesting mineral supplements of silicon dioxide and calcium fluoride. The trichologist would examine you in another two months to see if the hair loss and thinning was responding to the treatment.
If telogen effluvium was her diagnosis, the trichologist would take another look at your health history. If you recently had a baby, fever, operation, started or stopped medication, or had a nutritional deficiency from crash dieting, she would explain that you should expect the hair loss to cease 2 or 3 months after the problem had been corrected and that your hair should fully return to normal after about 6 months.
    Doctor Referral
If it appeared that you were experiencing an undue amount of stress in your life, she would explain that handling the stress would put an end to the hair loss. The trichologist would then tactfully refer you to a medical doctor for evaluation and possible medication.
If the trichologist suspected any of the following, she would refer you to your physician for a blood test and a complete medical check-up:
    • a hormonal imbalance (hypo or hyperthyroid, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)
    • diabetes
    • anemia
    • systemic lupus erythematosus (butterfly rash on face)
    • poisoning (X-rays, pesticides, lead, mercury)
    • thrush
    • kidney or liver problems

    Hi Everybody,

First of all, I do not think Praba Reddy is a Doctor. Trichologists need be doctors. However all the media has been clearly addressing her as doctor. She is a beautician who has done trichology and has lot of experience in hair care. Thats what i have heard of her. Info put by Blondie is very correct. However the problem is that people in this industry have got used to making big money and they charge for packages and kits with exhorbitant rates and people keep on repeating their visits since they have already paid a huge sum.

Its good to ask questions and get a scientific reply than going by their commitments and words. Most of the issues related to hair can be solved, however the trichologist has to ascertain the exact cause of fall through a thorough consultation and prescribe medicines exactly required for that than prescribing kits, the same kit for every one for a good charge.

Thanks for highlighting on the prices, they need such money because they are used to this for the last 5 or 7 years

    Hi Ganesh

I just read your message. Shikakai is just a cleansing medium and it makes hair dry and does not suit everyone. However Prabas is selling that because they manufacture it and make a lot of money just on that one product. For normal balding process, only androgen blockers would help. Any good trichologists should be able to provide you accurate medicines without charging you heavy amounts. i still believe that trichologists are experts, moresoever they should not be greedy and loot the people who go to them. Praba Reddy as a trichologist is a bad example and they have already developed a very big customer base. I think more than 60% clients would be dissatisfied clients. I have heard from people that some scream and shout when there is no improvement and by that time they have lost lots of money. People should really stop using their services and quit watching her TV programs on Podigai.

My tip for you is keep your hair short i.e crew cut. Do not please i repeat DO NOT grow hairlong so that to cover the balding/ sparse areas. This really looks ridiculous (Donald Trumps hair do). Girls would prefer a clean cut look to that anytime. Here people have a clean shaved head to avoid looking really bald, but this suits only people who have good skull structure with out bumps.

Develop a taste for fresh seasonal fruits (which doesn't need any cooking) and Salads with seasonal greens.(which again doen't need any cooking) The patience needed for going to the market, selecting fresh fruits/vegetables and storing them and eating them before they rot will come in good use for you later in life (married life)

And don't forget to drink plenty of water ;-)
