Being married to a photography enthusiast, I get numerous occasions to pose before the lens. My dreams
of being in media ;-) are partly satisfied. Over time I have found myself pose better. Each one of us have unique ways
of posing, which we refine over time.

I have cousins and friends who are camera-shy. I still wonder how and why ?
Some of them are extremely photogenic.

Also I have come across people who have inferiority complex about their looks. I have message for them. It just takes a genuine smile to look beautiful on photos.

Here are some tips I came across, to pose before cameras.

    1. Lift chin up to prevent that extra flab under chin to come on the photo.

    2. Relax yourself and your face muscles. Take a deep breath and smile.

    3. Wear clothes which show your figure. Not just before photos, but experts suggest that we wear comfortable but not loose "11" shaped clothes.

    4. Natural look rules, but remember, no hunchback shoulders, no sad face and no tilted heads.

You do want to look back at old memories years later and smile, don't you ?

Add your tips ladies. Also write about your experiences before the camera..

    Lights off...Action !

PS - If we were to talk about posing for video I find it the toughest. When I saw myself appearing on TV for a game show for the first time, I got to see thousand funny expressions. I was too conscious I think. Next thing was wedding video :-( !!

good post :) i've observed that wen i take a pic of someone whom i know quite well, they appear to be more conscious of themselves, than if it were some new friend.. dunno why though.. maybe its just my idea :)

    Gayathri,

Why not strike some conversation and take the pic by cracking a joke maybe...Consciousness changes the entire result, doesnt it ?

Thanks for the tips. But, when I stand before the camera, i lost all my originality and it is like attention pose.

very nice tips.... I have one...

If its a full size picture, then I would look like a barrel.... So to avoid that, my friend taught me to stand keeping one leg behind another, like you are about to walk forward.

    And I have another...

If I stand with my arms down, I always feel that my shoulders look lowered down and I look like a big 'O' shape. So the shoulders should look broad. For that you can keep your hands on something and lift the shoulders a bit. It wont look odd. If you are standing leaning on a compound or something, then you can keeps your hands on them, so your shoulders automatically look lifted...

    Hope it helps somebody...
