Getting wonderful replies here. thanx a lot friends. One more question to add.... If a person (engineer) has 10+ years experience of work but not of project management, even then is it still better to go for PMP? . Like if at all they ask for a project management experience then what to produce??
Hi Aparna, PMP requires about 6500 hours of project management related work. You should be able to back this up with few references. PMI randomly conducts audit of the submitted applications. If your application is chosen, they will call the references you provided to verify your claims. Only after your application is approved by the PMI, you will be able to pay the exam fee and schedule your exam. Filling in the application itself takes a few hours as you are asked to mention the number of hours you clocked in each phase of the project, like planning, execution etc.
