Please suggest. Gold coins or bars?

I am planning to buy gold coins/bars from the US... I have a couple of doubts... Please help me choose the best

1. Which is best-coins or bars(credit Suisse) and why?
2. Which coin is good? 24ct or 22ct. Why?
3. Will I get the same gold price as in India if I give American Gold Eagle or Canadian Maple?
4. Is American Gold Eagle 916?
5. Is JMBullion.com reliable? Any bought from there?

May not be able to answer all of your Q's but remember this:

If it is for savings - go for bars. If it is for making jewelry, I wouldn't advise buying bars because, the jeweler might not use the same pure gold you give.

Same here.. May not be able to answer all of your questions.. but here you go
1. Personally we prefer bars over coins as they charge you while making jewellary from coins.
2. we prefer 24 ct as they are best value for the money.

4. I think they will mention you while buying or it is stamped on the gold bar or coin itself.
5. No idea. We prefer to buy gold in india as it is easy and convenient to buy gold bars and make jewellery there. Also there is not much of price difference from buying gold here and there.
