Planning to move to FL or TX. Need recommendations.

    Hi ILs,

    I have stayed in NY and I love it except for the winter. I stayed in mid-west and it is not that happening and i don't like the winter either but Indian community and social life is great.

    Because winter's are bad here, we are planning to move to south (FL or TX). CA is very expensive and out of question.

    So will you please tell me how it is to live in FL or TX ?
    I heard they are very conservative.

    1. is it safe ?

    3. how is the indian community in FL ? is it big? are indians scattered or thickly populated at one place?

    4. how are the schools?

    5. is staying in FL or TX expensive too ?

    6. are people openly religious there ? I don't want the schools or surrounding force my children to get confused and doubt the religious things taught by their mom.

    well to answer your questions...

    1 - yes it is safe. as safe as anywhere in us.
    2 - i didnt find bullet # 2 .. ;)
    3 - compared to TX .. may be less. there are pockets of indians in main cities.
    4 - schools are good. depends which ones u r looking at...elementary or mid or high.
    5 - TX may be slightly cheaper depending wher u r staynig
    6 - nopes...not really. i know many indian friends who hv their kids in schools here and never heard about these type of complains.
