    Hi ladies

Has anyone faced a situation where they had periods nonstop for over a month ? An anechoic cyst & thick endometrium has been diagnosed on one of the ovaries. No pain so far.

If someone has faced something similar I'm curious to know what line of treatment was used and what really worked.

Some options are treating with contraceptives and other hormone regulators or surgery to remove cyst. Also being as i am in my 30s, the Dr also suggested doing a biopsy via DnC or running the c125 test to confirm benign cells.

A bit worried, hope to hear from folks on this.

Please don't be worried. Its going to be just fine. I will tell what happened to me, hope it gives you some info. and reassuarance.

6 months back, I did not get my period for a month. And, I know there is no way I can become pregnant. I had my tubal ligation done after my 2nd child. Then after a month my periods started. Usually, it lasts 5 days at max but nope that didn't stop. I entered the 2nd week with periods still on and the flow became heavy. I knew there is something wrong now. I became anxious and worried.
Called the OBGYN and luckily got an appt. next day. Doc. said I needed to get an Ultrasound of the ovaries to see if there is any cyst. She said there is a chance endometrium wall could have become thick due to hormonal imbalance......low progesterone and timing of estrogen secretion and progesterone secretion is not in sync. And heavy periods is due to the shedding of the uterine wall. But, first get the ovaries checked.

Anyway, got my Ultrasound done. No cyst. Then went in for endometrium biopsy. Turned out to be what the doc. suspected. I was relieved and so so so happy that it was not cancer. Doc. said DNC has become outdated and they don't do it anymore. I was told Mirena IUD would be the best solution. But, as I had to travel and didnt have time for that, Doc. prescribed Provera(Progesterone) tablet for a couple of months. Doc. said she cannot put me on that for more than a couple of months as the progesterone in pills is high dose and I didnt need that much. Finally, after using pills for a month, I got the IUD inserted in the uterus. IUD mirena releases small doses of progesterone every day and helps to keep the balance and timing between progesterone and estrogen right.
Initially, I was concerned that sex life would get affected after getting IUD. Doc. assured me that its going to be just normal and not to worry on that. Its been 4 months and I am fine.
I get periods now but the flow is very light.

No, I didn't have any really noticeable side effects. Anyway I was on pills for only a month. Doc. said I should not continue pills as the progesterone dosage was higher than required.

Great. I still wonder though if the line of treatment in my case might be different or may involve additional steps since a cyst had been diagnosed in addition to the endometrium thickening.

Has anyone had to remove it surgically ? Does it go away on it'so own or with meds?

For endometrium thickening, doc. said this would be the line of treatment.
First we'll try IUD, majority of the cases it helps. if it doesnt help then we have to go for what is called Endometrium ablation.....scarring of the inside wall of the uterus.
If that also doesn't help then the last option is surgically removing uterus which she said, should be the last resort only.

My sis-in-law had her ovary removed as the cyst would not go away. She was on medicines for few years but the cyst kept reappearing. And, due to that she had severe back pain too. So, finally they had to remove one ovary. Now, she is doing great!

There are other alternate options too like trying homeopathy, ayurvedic medicines.
Its possible if you are in India or if you have someone to send you the refills.
