    @Agathinai,

Water source from Kashmir is the primary goal for Pakistan and that is the leverage for India as well. Water from 3 rivers are given 80% to Pakistan as per treaty signed in 1947. India has been liberal in every negotiation including Simla Agreement when they returned 93,000 prisoners of war and captured territories from Pakistan. That would have been ideal time to settle Kashmir.

Pakistan has a reputation among the Western world that it promotes state sponsored terrorism and that is the positive for India in its negotiation. Those who have close ties with Pakistan can tell them to be careful not to venture into Indian territories unnecessarily as they did many times in the past.

    That’s true.
Pakistan is dependant on western nations for funding. USA for military allegiance and China right now for the CPE corridor. They have invested a lot especially the latter right now including ports which is significantly important for their economic expansion. Pakistan is in debt heavily with China. However I doubt whether both these countries will ever intrude with this current situation. USA is having its own share of trade wars and will stay away. China is having issues in Hong Kong and also having its own issues with Uighurs. So it will maintain a neutral stand unless there is issue with Aksai Chin. Mostly they will advice for bilateral discussions which is not going to have much impact or results. End result will be Pakistan trying to increase the terrorists infiltration. Hopefully India is able to tackle this.

There are two kinds of people in this world.

Those who does all the analysis but these people aren't responsible for their words and very little action is to be expected from them. These are the arm chair intellectuals aka journalists giving their 'i know what is best, let me solve Kashmir problem real quick' articles that they keep venting/writing in the public spaces.

Then there are those who speak by actions. Modi did it all well. Pakistan is at their weakest: economy is in doldrums, China won't come to rescue, since big brother US is too busy devising their next trade war tactic. Modi seized the moment and how.

    --

Look at this fact: just like we are animals under the skin of civilization, nations are the same way too. There's lot of proxy wars and given the current circumstances, there will be these wars in the future too. We cannot afford to let Kashmir go to Pak or to any independent state; the harsh himalayan conditions acts as natural border.

I fence the borders of my farm so that wild boars don't make an entry. Sometimes I have to dig pits deep so that it is tough for them to cross over to reach that fence. If I see them reaching the fence again, then I have no other go but to electric fence the whole farm. It's either I grow a crop, or I see it all ravished.

Let's stop pretending that the world, Pakistan and stone throwing kashmiri youth are all so benevolent, alright?

The State was very much divided based on the wishes of the people! Jammu and Ladakh were against Art 370 because they were being ignored. All the money coming from the Center goes to Kashmir. Politicians were only "concerned"( if you could call it that - mostly they were no different from other politicians who are only about power and money) about Kashmir - that too, not the whole of Kashmir - just the handful of districts because that's where their power to blackmail the rest of India comes from.

Ask the people - also muslims - who live near the border, who actually inform the army of suspicious movements. All they need are good jobs, a safe future and BUNKERS to protect themselves from Pakistani shelling!

Also, about your take on how this govt is not secular - secularism is where the state is blind to a person's religion. IN India, secularism is a one way street where it is the responsibility of one particular community to be secular while the other has no responsibility but all the rights, just because they are a "minority"; albeit a minority that's almost 20% of a billion plus population. On the other hand, Parsis who merely have numbers in the thousands and shrinking go on to build corporate powerhouse and none of the whining! If Hindus are supposed to be secular because they are in the majority, aren't muslims the majority in J&K? How did they behave with the Pandits?

Secularism practiced in India is actually appeasement for vote bank politics. Wearing skull caps and having Iftar parties with public money does not a secular make. How many of these politicians do you really think fasted for Ramzan? It's being oneself and yet respecting and accepting others that makes one secular. For me, It is Modi all the way! He is all walk and no talk and that's why people hate his guts.

It is high time someone harps on the plight of KP. It's always been about KM. The KMs could have stood by the KPs instead of threatening them to leave. What did they think? Getting rid of KP would guarantee them peace? KMs could have come out and protested against militancy and Pakistan but they didn't. Can they not see Pakistan that was created for Muslims but has failed miserably?

KPs were maimed, killed, raped and converted, driven out against their will and now you grudge them their financial progress? What do you want? that they stay in tents and live on dole outs that may or may not come? So it is okay to turn a blind eye to their loss because they made a life for themselves in spite of all the torture?

Give it time. we will see KPs and others walking the walk. who knows, it might be people like us who settle down there when we retire.

I don't know what is the news source for those who consider this Article 370 abrogation as a great move. Have you heard of the Indian military excesses in Kashmir that are truly considered as human rights violation by the international community? Modi's government lacks strategy and execution and they haven't achieved anything significant as yet, majority Hindus are willing to praise him forever and he enjoys it being a narcissist just like Trump. Modi is all show and no sensible action he had taken that is commendable.

Corporate world in India hates Amit Shah for all his stupid moves with no knowledge of finance and now he is given the authority to meddle with Kashmir as interior minister. God knows what would be the outcome? Modi & Co. with their intellectual thinking will bring down the progress India has made so far. Modi can catch a bus to Pakistan like what Vajpayee did and do nothing later. All possible actions that should have been taken were not done in the past by various governments. India negotiated too many treaties which were not beneficial to India both under Congress and BJP governments.
