There once was a saree that wanted to cheat
Tired of the skirt , tired of the pleat,
Let me get the slender tights under me
Let the frumpy saree skirt be history
So started the affair of the saree with the tights
The saree skirt meanwhile protested for all her rights
Alas the tights and the saree were miserable , not made for each other
Pick a pretty saree for the party from your mother !

I had to google this. Reminds me of 8 yr old me draping my mom's duppattas over my shorts and twirling in front of the mirror pretending to be a great fashion designer. Someone else seems to have had the same idea. Sarees with tights are actually a thing!! Must we compulsively innovate? Some things are so perfect, they are hard to improve upon, e.g., sarees.

Sorry OP. I don't live in India, out of touch and clueless about the Indian fashion scene. My opinion shouldn't affect your decision. All that matters is how you feel wearing it. If you like it, go ahead, and have fun!

I am also not in India, so pardon me if my question is too elementary. But how does the saree tucking happen here? I can't imagine tucking a saree in tights .. or does the saree comes sewn with the tights, in which case it may become a saree -tights dress , I guess ??:tongueclosed:

i don't mind the dhoti style.. but the saree on tights reminds me of the jugaad that many maami's have resorted to.. wearing a tights for the 9 yard madisar..

and saree draping is a new career choice..
    check her..
    Dolly Jain - Saree Draper

saree a six yards of poetry and would be a waste on tights. maybe a dupatta the 2.5mtr wala would suffice

Thanks OP for bringing this up! I had to google this too.

While I loved this saree style on some of the top models and actresses, I was also disappointed how it looked on regular women (pics of which I saw on blogs)..

I absolutely love Sonam's look above. But, not sure if it would look this great on shorter, not so slim women!

Also, in some pics, I felt like it ended up looking like a navvari sari (Maharashtrian style) if not draped properly, which I don't dig! anyone else here think so?
