    Hi moms,

It's a general question. In USA we do have lot of options to choose from organic to non organic foods.

Where guys usually buy fruits, eggs, vegetables, snacks etc for kids. Any preference would you give for kids ? Example: I heard some moms buy organic for this specific fruits or organic egg all time? OR any specific shops in usa is good....like trader Joe's, sprouts farmer market etc?

Myself I usually buy mixed up groceries sometime in El Super, food 4 less, Costco etc.

I read on online better to introduce few organic in kids plate that helps them to grow with more immunity. Please pour your suggestions.

    Nice topic !
Veggies : In Indian stores for Indian veggies, other veggies locally grown and fresh organic though it's little expensive from Farmers market.
Fruits : farmers market, sprouts, whole foods, trader Joe's.
Snacks: trader Joe's for kid. They come as raw, vegan, smaller quantities for perfect snacking.
Milk : I buy from either trader Joe's or sprouts. Costco milk though organic it's made in large scale.
Nuts & dryfruits: hands down Costco with variety and organic as well price.
Rice: brown organic wild rice from Costco, Indian stores
Wheat: Indian stores , for cold pressed atta.
Oil : coconut oil virgin cold pressed from Costco.
Vegan and mostly vegetarian processed food like bread, butter, jam, cheese, chips, I browse thru sprouts, whole foods, trader Joe's.
Coffee : I buy as beans and grind from sprouts.or sometimes in whole foods
Tea: 24 organic mantra , Yogi, tea India for flavors.
Since my family is vegetarian no idea on eggs. We are slowly quitting milk as well.
Yogurt: I make at most of the time, buy out in Indian stores.
Salt : sea salt from Costco, sea salt from whole foods.
Sugar : organic coconut or date sugar from sprouts. Monk fruit from Costco.
Pasta & noodle: pasta I buy from trader Joe's where pasta is made from sweet potato, spinach and potato starch than all purpose flour. Noodle I buy noodles from Asian stores.

I see ingredients for each and every label. Mostly asses on sodium, sugar, caragreenan, palmoil, natural Identical flavours, so on.
    Thanks for a good topic.

This is a question which is difficult to answer that even experts will stay away. So, please take my answer with a pinch of salt.

I think lot of people have an opinion on organic food. Either that it is worth the money or not, its all a sham. End of the day, if the prices were the same, most will buy organic. You either are a believer or not. There is also this where we feel we want organic, but sometimes the cost drives us away.

    Here is my take:
    1. Buy organic at all times if available
    2. Buy non-organic if you don't have a choice
    3. Stay away from non-organic on certain.

#1 and #2 go together Buy organic at all times if available. Sometimes we don't have a choice like Papaya or Mangoes or guava you cannot get organic.

#3 Certain food avoid if it is not organic. Google for a list on these. I normally avoid potatoes, peanuts, grapes ( and most of the fruits and vegetables which has organic options ). These are pesticide heavy. 12 Fruits and Veggies You Should Avoid (If Buying Non-Organic)

Normally I don't get organic at walmart. But organic at walmart is better than non-organic at other places. Then it comes to comparison shopping between Costco, Wholefoods and whatever choices you have.

In season organic foods are cheaper than out of season organic. Try to buy produce which is in season and organic.

My 2 cents on the topic.

You awesome vedhavalli and thanks for your awesome reply.

Which shop would you say its good to get variety and nutritional snacks. Trader Joe's or Sprouts or whole foods???

I usually give more nuts in my kid plate I buy from Costco. Fruits I get from local market but I feel I have to peel the skins as it looks more wax on the outer layer.

Mostly I buy organic eggs from costCo. But snacks I buy non organic from costCo or Sam's club. Mostly I buy fruits in bulk but I prefer to get organic after reading more pesticides on the fruits.

    Thanks Thoughtful!!!

    Thanks for your informative link.

Yes I buy mixed organic and non organic based on my monthly budget. But I feel atleast fruits I should go for organic I am unsure which shop has good deals on organic fruits.

I feel Costco so expensive in fruits even non organic varieties. I stopped buying fruits there.

:hello:Yes more the shine more it is harmful.
    2. Washington apple in India is one such. We shave off skin of such waxed apples before consuming as drink or as solid pieces.

    3. In the name of organic, non organic being sold with a nice pouch printed on it benefits of organic. It is day light robbery.

    4. With no snap test available, no sample packets -one buys suspects.

    5. I shall be glad if some connoisseurs list out Snap tests for all these edible items to establish genuineness of the claim that the product is oRGANIC. Mere certification by an agency may not satisfy a consumer since such certificates issued eventually proved bogus later.

    Thanks and Regards.
