    Dear Mr Ojantrik,
    Though you have said that you hate crows and their cawing the soft corner in your heart felt bad when you saw the boys torturing the baby crow by tying its claws by a thread and dragging it.
    crows are reputed to be brainy and clever and Aesop's famous fable “The Crow and the Pitcher," is an example. A group of crows is known as murder and they have compassion and unity. I have observed this personally. I have given the link below which I have posted in 2009.

    As Mr Cheeniya has said on the death anniversary of our parents though we designate two Brahmins in place of the dead person and feed them at the end of the ceremony we also feed the crows and believe they also represent the dead.

    Thank you PS. Liked your vivid description. It is not easy to save them the way you did. Also, the crow community is often suspicious that you are trying to inflict damage and try to attack their benefactor. You can't blame them. After all, humans can never be trusted.

    Dear Mr Ojantrik,
    Two crows have become friends as we fed them with lunch and evening tiffin. Before taking our lunch we used to keep rice in a plate and water in a mug at our terrace. In the evening when we have our tiffin in our drawing cum dining hall they will come to the balcony and have tiffin.

    There is a belief in Tamilnadu that feeding crows everyday is important as the ancestors of the family come home in crow's form. Therefore, you saved one of the ancestors. :)
