Anyone ever had a Nuclear Stress Test, or knows someone who had it.

    Dr prescribed it for Dad.

I read that if person cannot exercise, they are injected with drug that induces exercise condition.

What drug is this exactly? I wish these websites would mention it. At my Dad's age and condition got to be careful of medications and their side effects (had bad experience with antibiotic he took several months back, and it was only for few days)

Any advice and information would be most helpful.

In other words what questions should I ask that the Dr's office / diagnostic lab would not bring up. We are only human.

Yes, heart disease runs in family. Gets chest pains when stressed. However, regular stress test shows he is fine.

Thanks for these links, really eye-opening. Will certainly be more informed when speaking with front office tomorrow. Who knew this was so invasive, i.e. no eating, drinking, plus no creams, lotions, etc (my Dad gets body itch, hence he moisturizes to cope).

My goodness. At least this medical center will have driver pick Dad up (hopefully drop home too, anyone would be dog-tired after this exam).

Ask your doctor if a cardiac mri scan is good in your fathers case.If yes then the procedure is less cumbersome he has to hold the breath for a min in intervals during the scan. This will also provide information regarding the blood supply, contractility and viability of heart muscle.

I may go ahead and do that.

When I told Dad about Nuclear Stress test (plus the staff at the particular center doesn't seem meticulous), he flipped out.

He loves home-made coffee and tea!

Luckily he is not getting chest pains but still, will re-assess.

If there is previous significant history its better to get evaluated to reassess the risk and necessary medication can be taken.
