completely agree with you. this happens NOT ONLY WITH NRI'S BUT with indian relatives too ... many relatives behaves in strange ways . sometimes they are nice to you and other times they just dont talk properly for no apparent reasons.
one important thing i want to point out , i think now a days the bonds of relatives are not that strong due to various reasons.Over the past decades, major social trends in family dynamics and increasing work related stress difference in opinion etc has altered the structure of reltionships.
many sociologists feel that nuclear families fail to teach children the importance of close knit relatives, strong family bonds and social norms.
you will need to join some indian cultural groups and take initiative and it will take few months to year before you will see the results. all the best
