I wont agree with both sides both :hide:
    Keeping maid to cook
Cooking is the way to enter the DH heart and taking control over the kitchen ensure our position in the house.

No need for a maid to cook day to day cooking, just cook what you can and make others in house to understand your situation. If its joint family anyway MIL will share the work, in neutral family make DH to help in the kitchen. I can say today many men are doing that, though there are some exemptions.

People who support cooking on own in yesterdays show said once, they wont let their daughter / son to cook and get tired of working and cooking like them. What a contrary note :bonk. They said that kitchen is their own area and wont allow others to control it...lol even if you keep maid, its your kitchen, and you are going to decide whats going to be todays menu (may be they are talking about sharing with MIL :crazy no..no..that's different topic and we need separate show for that :biggrin2:)

About the girl taking very openly about her personal thing....I don't think its a good idea to talk those stuff in a public talk show while many people are watching around the world including her friends, relatives also her children ( If they can understand what their mom talk) I don't like the way she expressed it..i wish she said that in a more subtle way. its my personal opinion. Even I don't like the counter attack the doctor lady gave to it. Also I blame it on these talk show people who are trying to get something like that out of the people mouth to increase their TRB's.

havnt seen the show. but i wud like to say that my mom doesnt like cooking. my dad loves it, so he does it usually. unless he is not around. that doesnt make me love my mom any lesser. nor does that make me feel any less closer to her. she doesnt feel the need to 'control' us using her cooking. cos she knows we love her not inspite of her shorcomings, but because of it.

    I havent watched the show....

but, from the discussions here in IL, I can share a few thoughts...

I like to cook, try new recipes and make my family happy with my cooking.:thumbsup
I enjoy getting my DS's comments about my food...I am not a person who can manage maids very well...

yaah..forget about cook..even a maid...Had real bad experience in handling some of them:hide:..I dont like to repeat what I said..(oru thadavai sonnaa....sonnadhu thaan)...but, my previous maid used to suck all my energy by asking 100 odd questions (just to simple mopping or cleaning)..
So, that option is ruled out...

As I work full time, if I cannot cook for a day in a week, we tend to go out and eat ...

There was one place in the show, when one woman (on the side which hates cooking), told.....by the time she enters the kitchen, after finishing cooking, she is tired and exhausted.......hence, not in a 'healthy' mindset......fearing that she may have to say, 'no', when the husband wants it.......or even if he wants it, she just participates in it, without herself not enjoying it. Now because, she has someone else to cook, she is not exhausted in kitchen. Her energy is not drained. By the time, she enters the bedroom, she is 'healthy' and in a good mood.......and does not have to say ,'no', when the husband wants it, not only that, she can participate in it with real enthusiasm too.....

What was immensely amazing to me was the way in which that woman could convey, the essence of what she wanted to convey , without using any explicit words, like 'love making' or 'quickie'.

According to me, (though I can not speak on behalf of the entire male gender of this planet), that is the single most important point in the entire discussion.

There may be some men, who would love a wife, because of her extra-ordinary and dedicated cooking skills. But, I am sure, these men would be a minority. On the contrary, a vast majority of men, would love that wife, ...........who loves, love-making.

(sorry, I can not convey my message, with so much decent words, as that women did....I am scared I may get a warning from Moderator, "IG, do not use explicit words"):)...............Yet, I will try :

There is an English proverb which says, "You can win a man's heart through his stomach". You ask the men close to you, in your life......whether this proverb is right. They would disagree. The key to win a man's heart is not through his stomach....(Hope I have conveyed my message.., as implicitly as I can)

I saw the show yesterday ... The people who liked cooking were too very harsh or over stubborn in their point. From the beginning they were just telling its woman's duty and it's the way to get control in the house ..I seriously didn't felt one valid point .
The doctor mentioned she makes chicken 65 and chai before her son comes home- may be she must have made that just before the show to add a point in her talk show...

The worst part is who said that the best way to enter mans heart is by giving him yummy food ...if that is the case lets educate all the people with cooking tips in the relationship forum :)

As a whole I didn't liked the show and didn't felt that this as to be discussed on the public floor .. I think Gopinath and Antony is running out of topics :) let's start a thread on topics to be discussed in neeya nana and send that to vijay TV :)

    hi
me too watched yesterdays show. Each side argued well barring some comments from someone (who was fond of cooking)on the girl who kept a cook.I forgot her name,i appreciate the girl. She has a cook who helps. This ,in a way ,is some sort of management.Depending upon her job ,she has done a wise thing.
In the end,it depends upon each person, the time they have for cooking, their work load and tension, they can choose what is easier for them.

Onething I will make it common we should not prepare for any individuals, we should for family hapiness not for an individual.

Most of the cooking likers are above 35 and they are all posessive and not to share with daughter too.. it is wrong.

in my family we both cook nicly and eveyone like our cooking, actually i learned from my wife mostly.

Any thing in our life if you have thought it is difficult, then it will be like that only. Cooking is a real art .. we are enjoying..

Cooking can be considered as an art. Just like certain people have an interest for gardening or painting or music, cooking appeals to certain people. But in our country a girl 'has to love cooking'. women have to cook well whether they like to cook or not & whether they are foodie or not.

I feel if both husband & wife are working & if they can afford they should have a cook. One of my cousin has a cook & it gives her a lot more of time for herself & family. Another cousin who works full time definitely finds it exhausting to cook after a hectic day. In both cases the husbands don't cook.

I like cooking. I do it as though it is my hobby. Cooking a dish perfectly gives me more high than eating it. Appreciation definitely makes me happy but it will be same for a artist who comes up with a beautiful drawing.

Sometimes 'Neeya Naana ' becomes one-sided with even the guest & host supporting one side. I felt that way in the episode between parents and children in which only the childrens' views were validated.

    Hi

I saw the show too yesterday. I had a cook coming and doing my daily needs for some time every day except week ends. I trained him to cook our dishes along with roti, subzi, rice, dal etc. He made rasam, sambar etc. too. He comes in the morning at 6:45 and finishes by 8:00AM. I will write and keep the chit the previous night itself on what to make the next day like Roti : 12 or 15 or "n" no.+ side dishes etc. He makes it fast and finishes quickly. Also makes uppuma, poha, chutney etc for breakfast and aloo tikki, kachori, samosa, dhokla, salads, raita or whatever I tell him. But any way he finishes by 8 ~ 8:15 and leaves. It was easier for us as all of us work and I got good time in the morning to do my Treadmill, leisurely drink my coffee while reading newspaper which otherwise was not possible or done in hurry hurry....etc.

On weekends I cook and evenings I make dinner if we wish to eat something different....... So any help is definitely not a curse, but boon only. But he used to put lot of ghee, oil etc. and we got bored of eating his food so I stopped him for some time. Now I have to finish everything in a hurry in the morning and in the evening, and don't get much time for doing my GYM or any relaxation.

My DH and children also loved the arrangement, which means in no way their affection became less and all were happy only.

The ladies sitting "loving cooking" are nothing but hypocrites, they just argued for the sake of arguing.........

    Rgds
    Shanti
