DH started skype to talk to MIL and SIL in INDIA. And he would not stop. For God's sake, why they need to see the draws and clothes in all closets ? DH went on and on showing each and every nook and corner of the house. Ours is not a new home, they have seen pictures before and my MIL also visited and seen everything. But DH is like that, he thinks he has to show everything to make them happy. While he was showing the master bed room, (I was in there working WFH). I told him to stop and do not show my closet, as it is not organized as it is. To be honest, it was beyond usual messy, because last couple of weeks have been crazy with things, i didnt get to tidy. But DH went ahead and showed inside my closet. My MIL, and my SILs family was watching from the other side. I got furious on DH after the call. how can someone be so insensitive? there is some thing called personal space. He is brushing off with, "they cant see clearly anyway", "and they wont mind the mess" etc etc. somehow it is bothering me whole day. Am I over reacting. what would you do? I did not mind showing around the house for 2 hours which was already too much. But one should use common sense...
It is rather stupid to do that. I would have been mad too. One simple response to situations like this is a stern, "it's not about them.it's about me. I DO NOT want my personal still to be displayed. I expect that privacy in my own home. Don't ever do this crap again. " I have MIL poking and prodding in my room when I unexpectedly turn up early. I tell her every single time that I don't like other people in my room and firmly ask her to stay away.
It's skype so you guys can also see their house. So, ask you husband to have the SIL and MIL to show their closet. Maybe that will make him realize.
Two can play. Next time he tries this, hang some lacy bras and thongs, lingerie, handcuffs, whips and a few other 'toys' in plain sight. He'll get clued in pretty quickly.
You are mom to 3 kids. : ) A few years from now, you will laugh at this. Right now, no wonder you are hopping mad. It is the story of many households. : )
