    Hello everyone,
I would like to make idli at home, from scratch, but I don't have a idli grinding machine ( the ones with the stones) I have always used readymade idli mix. My problem is we don't eat idli that often, sometimes once a month sometimes once in 2/3 months. Is it worth buying a idli grinding machine or is there any other multi purpose grinder I cold use? I have once tried to make idli batter with my blender, but failed.
    please ladies give your suggestions
    Thanks.

If your frequency of cooking Idli at home is once a month , the grinding machine with stones will be a waste for you.

I use a mixer grinder to grind my idli batters.
Used Philips food processor before, now I use a Preethi zodiac (mg 218 750 watt) food processor mixer grinder set. Both worked perfectly for idli batters.

I soak the rice, dals n all over night n grind it the next day with lil water n let it ferment outside.
During winters, will preheat the microwave or oven jus a bit n let it ferment for atleast 6-12 hours.

    Hi Rizi,
You could try grinding with the help of mixies, grinder would be a great deal of work for washing...
