    Re: "Varalakshmi's Visit"

Dear Umasu, thanks a lot for your wonderful presence in my post !!

I had a Lakshmi calendar on which I did the decorations using flower sequins, zari laces, jewellery making stones, glitter pens, etc.

First you need a good calendar picture. You can trim the edges depending on the picture and stick it on a thick cardboard. Here I have used craft cardboard which I picked up from the stationery shop. Using fevicol I stuck the picture neatly and allowed it to dry for sometime. Then slowly I worked on the kalash using gold glitter pen and stuck some stones, for the leaves I used sequins that you get in the leaf shape, the border is decorated with gold zari lace and just immediately to the border I used white flower shaped sequins and for the ambal I used jewellery making individual stone pieces of varying shapes and sizes and colours.

I just added some red glitter glue to the blouse and left the sari as it was. For the dots on the saris I used gold tipped pens to have a lighter effect....thats all...

I just need to frame it...

Let me know if you have any queries and I will only be too pleased to help you...

I have done some more and posted under the following links........take a peep there as well.......

Re: My version of Aarathi plate and Sponge Flowers!!!

Thanks Sunitha dear for your bold comments:)
The idea of sponge flowers I got it from one of the threads here only...
    A brief procedure:
Cut the waste sponge(that comes in packing) in rectangle shape(say, 20 x 4 cms). Wrap it around the gold wire using fevicol and stick the ends. And finally use green tape to wrap the wire.
If you want colored flowers, soak the sponge in paint mixed with water(make sure the color spreads out evenly everywhere), dry it completely and use them.
Hope its clear...Pls let me know if any doubts..Happy crafting:cheers

    Thoran for navarathri

Hi , I am uploading pictures of thoran made of straw .This is the last item in straw. A sigh of relief.
Except for a few beads buds and a tape every thing is made of straw including the hearts and stars. I must thank Nirmaladevi my family friend who helped me in doing this piece.
    Please send your comments.
