    Dear Paulina,
    In classic bonsai the creator must be dead for a few centuries and the specimens alive equally long to be considered any good. I am just born according to this and will be considered an upstart. I can console myself that at least I can be compared somewhat to a child showing its skills in (rather off key at times) reciting nursery rhymes.

    You embarass me no end. As Higgins sings in My Fair Lady, I am an ordinary man, leading a quiet life in the back yard pulling weeds in my free time (and bitten by mosquitoes) in Bangalore.

    Dear Arunadhri sir, you have only doubled our pleasure by letting us know that it was your birthday. I am extremely delighted that the small gesture from us coincided with your birthday and also had the distinction of being the first award you have accepted. Happy Happy Birthday - I am sure you had a fantastic day.

    I believe the gardening contest was a little different in a way - I am sure there was no way any one could feel that their display was better than others' - I am sure we all looked at the beauty of nature in each other's pictures with joy and wonder, more so, when we all know about the love and hardwork we put in knowing very well that all that is still at the mercy of mother nature - the harwork may turn into joy to behold or just wilt away!! So in that sense, it was not a competetion at all. It was a platform for all of us to come share the joy we perceive in our backyards and applaud the beauty of mother nature through the nurturer.

    We look forward to more of your participation in IL and gardening forum in particular. I am sure a lot of us will benefit from the tips you have to offer - as a caretaker, provider of water, pesticides and nutrients :)

    ps: I am also from B'lore and would love to come look at your garden when I am visiting.
