Its sensory..get some chewy tubes and chew stixx. It will help with necessary stimulation. It's safe and wont hurt ur kid like keys.
If you are worried about vitamin deficiency, doing a blood test should help. Some paediatrician are able to guess too.

I would say vitamin deficiency and some supplements will definitely help. Please run the complete blood test. Also strictly follow gluten and dairy free diet( my son dairy free helps a lot) and low carb.

Agree with @Mehana on diet changes . reduce sugar.

I also incline towards anxiety and separation and how the school works for him..

anxiety and being away from you. i mean how comfortable he has been after starting school. give him time to settle.. see if it is just being away from known zone that is triggering bite episodse, since you said it started only after school

My son used to be away from us at the age of 3-4... after some research we put him on gluten free, dairy free diet along with supplements. Diet helped him a lot he started socializing with us and never want to be away. Always diet first and mostly home food. Sometime he gets gluten free chips but very limited only 1 time a day max 10 ( its hard with him to eliminate chips but we mostly divert him for fruits and nuts). Again fruits has sugar so limit either 2 times a day or 3 small portions a day.

Gfcf diet doesn't work for all kids. Need to try for 6 months strictly. If no difference, the diet should be discontinued
