You must be wondering the reason as to why I am posting this now……Navarathri is just down the corner and to gather materials, find time and then to craft…….so please let me know if my pictures and procedure is helpful !!

Thank you dearies for patiently viewing the pictures (sorry, this is the best I could manage) and reading thro’ my explanation !!

Re: "Jadai Alangaram" with step by step photos and procedure....

Hi Nitya, thanks for the first question....am too glad to explain !!

After wrapping the bangle 2/3 times with the wool still there was a large gap in the centre (meaning a big hollow and the rakkodi was small than the hollow and falling through the gap).

So I just started wrapping the bangle with zari lace first and then made a cross across the bangle and then wrapped the inside of the cross with anchor golden zari embroidery thread like a seat to make the rakkodi sit on it !!

This way I completed the circle first and later on started the braid which was left incomplete and covered the starting point with the artificial flower later on.

Hope I am clear, otherwise do ask me.....

Hi karthi, thanks a lot dear for your feedback.

Last year from Vijaya Stores in Mylapore Tank, Chennai I picked up the amman face.
This is white metal. It costed me around Rs. 125 for the size I picked up. I had done some decorations on it.

I posted it during Navarathri 2009.

For your easy viewing let me give you the link below.

Please just click on it and go there and check.......

Re: "Jadai Alangaram" with step by step photos and procedure....

Hi Shanti, thanks a lot sweetheart for your interest in making a jadai...

This is special size for my SIL's "Varalakshmi normal sized mugham" when you fix it on a coconut and place it inside the sombu !!

You can make it even smaller if you have a bangle the smallest size that we put for infants (black colour) and the braid can be about 6-7 centimetres long. This will be ideal for our marapachi bommais....in that case for the rakkodi part you can just use a big kundan stone.......lemme see if I can make one for my marapachi as well if time permits and give you the measurements (anyways Eid hols are there...so will try) !!

Are u intending to make one as well ??

By the way I know Soldier Mallika very well and we have met last time whilst I was in Chennai....

Plastic Bottle Caps .............. Re-use able

loved to share this with you all..

The guy who first thought of the idea must be given an award for originality!!!
Wow, what a fantastic idea! Do not have to grapple with rubber bands that are tied too tightly.

How to seal a bag and make it air-tight! Can try ......

Cut up a disposable water bottle and keep the neck and top, as in photo.

Insert the plastic bag through the neck and screw the top – to seal.

The bottle is made to be air-tight, such that water will not leak, the secret lies with the top and screw!

This is a great idea to share. Good for us and the environment too.

    :cheers

    Dear pandusk:), jananb4u:),vedha:)

    Thank you so much.

We get curved dry sticks like this over here in the plant nurseries. There are straight ones tooo....the person who sells said they are actually young bamboo sticks curved when they are very young and then dried....
