    tapestry

Sharing my recent work on presenting a canvas painting of radha krishna rasa leela. Instead of getting it framed, I chose to spruce it up as tapestry.
This is a 2ftx4.5ft, piece. Currently, I am working on 6x8, a large tapestry that brings out the colors of our living room. Will upload those pictures later.

    Re: tapestry

    Vidya,
    thank you.
I did it, here are the steps:
--- sew the painting on to a 0.5 cm thick padding material with 3in over hang on all sides. I chose almond color for this painting.

--- Then sew this entire piece on to a thick drapery cloth (as you see in the picture green and dark red mix), with 4 inches over hang.
--- Later, loop the over hang and sew it close to the picture.
--- That leaves about 1 in extra piece on all sides. I pulled the red thread from the cloth to get that green border between the red tapestry and painting.
--- finish it with golden tussle at the bottom.
---- hung on a rod, with window treatment tussles.

----- You can get all these materials in a fabric store that sells drapery material.
This is in our dining room and used the same drapery cloth as seat covers for our dining table chairs. This gave the room a custom decorated look.

    Re: tapestry

Thank you for the detailed procedure and prompt reply drjp. It is a very interesting way of exhibiting ones talent in a unique way. One small doubt. Is it possible to stitch these heavy fabrics in machine?

Yes, it was all done on home sewing machine. You will need a machine can sew jeans etc, with attachments for embroidery.

Alternatively, you can use fabric glue. For my next project I am using fabric glue because it is too large to sew on home machine (6ft x 8ft).

    Thank you.
