Mil Comments On My Looks!

Say your son married me cause am beautiful in his eyes. I didn't know my husband's mother is Aishwarya Rai.

 

This appears to be a phrase lifted out of context. There may have been more in words, as well as how that was said, inflections, facial expressions.. etc.

 

In what angle she met?
Sometimes i have noticed people comment that dialogue when we are dressed too casually with unkempt hair.Not trying to be supportive of ur mil but trying to make you feel better by saying maybe there is a chance she did not mean it and some people lack courtesy.

Again no matter what she is rude.very rude.Are you bold enough to call it out or if hubby is supportive sit with him and tell mil that she was very rude.

Distance yourself from her for sometime

If she is always a nasty person,then the best way is to confront firmly and confidently.
Ask her...
What do you mean by that?
Why did you say that?
That is a really horrible thing to say to anyone and you are saying it to some one in your family.
A person has to be really heartless to make such comments to a family member.

The idea is to make her feel ashamed of her behavior.

 

Op, Unkept hair, tired look or wrinkled clothes, doesn't justify the hurtful comment. Stop praising her daughters . Next time, you talk to your MIL , tell her how will like it if you said the same about SIL's. Also tell her you don't appreciate such talk in front of others or in person. Your MIL was showing her power by abusing you indirectly in front of her sisters.

Time to turn tables and next time your MIL talks like this, tell her right after - What is she talking about? in a firm tone.If MIL 's cant maintain their respect by talking to DIL's with decorum, you too need to maintain your self respect by being firm.Good Luck.

Why don't you tell your MIL politely that you are trying your best to look like a beggar after getting married into a beggar's family
