Edges of borders will be parallel to one another .Curved edge of the skirt has got convex edge. The length of the skirt edge is longer than the circumference of the skirt at any point. So we have to manipulate the border to make it lie flat on the skirt. This is done by taking small pleats in the border at one edge.
Fold the edge of the skirt by ¼” towards right side and press. Place one edge of the border on the folded edge of the skirt and stitch. The loose edge of the border will not lie flat on the skirt. Take small pleats at equal intervals and secure them to the skirt with pins. This makes the border to lie flat on the skirt. Now stitch the border to the skirt.

Wonderful instruction Vani Mam. I have always attached below the skirt with pleats. This method not only hides the seams also gives enough wait for the skirt's downward flow.

If it is woven border you have to follow this method only. If it you use material as border you can use border as facing then there will be no pleats.Any way please post the image. Let me see.

You have stitched well expect the border portion . you cannot sew straight border to the curved edge without manipulation of the border( a slit or pleat to reduce the length) It is science.
