    Any millets before cooking needs to be soaked in water overnight .It is said according to ayurveda , Millets are high in vaata n pitta dosha . Soaking them overnight reduces the vatha n pitta dosha in Millets .

    the one you get in your store is processed and not the unprocessed produce. hence no overnight soaking is neccessary

    but if you are able to source the raw one you can soak it.

    Hi Shanvy,

    Sorry for my absence for so long. Been busy with classes, French exams (as a student), German exams (trying to get my students to get through) - don't know what is more stressful, sis and bil were here for about a week, meeting cousins, wedding receptions, dressing up (not part of being myself :p), CTs, angiograms ..... Was supposed to leave for Mahabalipuram with sis today but some health issues ensured I can't.

    Finally have some free time until the end of this month. Then have to visit sis for some work and classes start again on the 8th. So looking forward to this peace. Not to forget that I have my work cut out for me!!! Have to put my cupboards in order!

    Have also got to get my diet back on track and start walking again too!
