Wow, Indhradhanu, that khichadi looks so inviting! Love the colour.

Me struggling to get back to some discipline with food too. Not easy.

Trying once again. Can't allow myself to vandalize my own efforts once again.

    Brunch - 29 Nov 2017.jpg
Bisibele rice, capsicum pulikachal, boiled drumsticks (added a pinch of rock salt to the water in which it was boiled and drank it), beans, raita with crushed groundnuts and dry groundnut chutney (not in pic).

Morning: Coffee, 1 elakki banana and 1 orange.

This is what I got from the Indian store yesterday . Goes by the name Kodri or sanwa millet .

@Shanvy - is this the same as varagu ? I tried making this but it ended up being clumpy . I let it sit in water for an hour tried the usual 1:2 ratio but didn’t come out fluffy . How exactly is this supposed to be cooked ? Does it need extra soaking time in water ?

@Sunburst, typing from my mobile so bear with me.

kodri is foxtail millet. varagu is kodo millet and sanwa is kuthiravali or barnyard millet. so i am going to assume it is baryard.

what we get in packs is processed so it cooks almost like rice. i dont do soaking time and the water i use is 1/5 th cup millet around 1/2 cup and more water
    a little trial and error.

i did not soak it.i pressure cooked for 4 whistles for fluffy rice and the millets.

my family prefers samai and varagu more than the thinai and kuthiravali.

    hope this has been helpful.
