    Hi all...
If u don't mind can you please share the rent details and cost of living in that area.
We presently live in Rockford planning to move there if we get our visa extended.
The area we live in does not have good schools....

Suburbs with the shortest commute to Chicago would be Oak park in the west and Evanston in the north. Evanston has both CTA and the metra. Commute on metra is roughly 20 min based on where the office in downtown is. Schools are excellent. And there is the Lake!

If good schools is not a concern (no school-going kids in the picture), check out Park Ridge, Des Plaines(lots of desis), Morton grove. The commutes are way shorter. Also you could consider living in Chicago itself.

The buffalo grove line has the slowest metra trains and I am guessing no express trains either. Arlington heights makes for a better commute. And rents tend to be lower.

Does your husband have the flexibility to move to Arlington heights/Schaumburg/Buffalo grove? Those are all different places in different directions. Where will he be working? Its easier to suggest a suburb with good schools and decent commute once the office location is known. Don't worry, there are plenty of good school districts in chicagoland.
