Dear All, I am working for Indian IT company. As per the Project assignments i might need to travel to Pretoria, South Africa for 9-12 months. Can some one provide your thoughts on the below points. 1. Cost of Living for couple 2. Transportation 3. Taxation for a Disabled Person.( I might be receiving 28K Rands per month including all facilities) 4. Safety Conditions. Kindly provide your feed back so that i can plan my travel. Thanks SGT
Hi! please see below: 1. Cost of Living for couple: average accommodation is R 4-6000 per month plus electricity 2. Transportation: local travel is cheap, busses and taxi's are about R 5-15 rand each per leg. 3. Taxation for a Disabled Person.( I might be receiving 28K Rands per month including all facilities) Taxation has no disability link in SA. Tax on R 28K may be about R8-10 K. The SARS.gov.za website has a downloadable tax table for each income bracket, and tax payable. it is easy to find the info 4. Safety Conditions. Depending on the area. most areas are safe. But prefereably in the East of Pretoria. West is lower income areas. and general vigilance is NB. No flashy jewellery or anything that attracts attention. The major crime is not by the locals, but by the Tanzanian, Nigerian and other people in the city living in "asylum" permits, but actually involved in questionable trade. Hope it helps.
