Kick Starting The Metabolism For Weight Loss..

    I understood from reading many articles that being very active, eating smaller meals several times a day and drinking plenty of water helps in weight loss..I agree..
    1. Can anyone guide me about specific foods that increase metabolic rate ( I don’t eat non veg )...?
    2. I m unable to do intense work outs due to previous issue with sprains in back and ankles..
    But will regular walk And routine household chores help in keeping metabolic rate high ( walking, washing utensils, sweeping, occasional mopping, cleaning washroom , drying clothes etc ) ? I m not in a personal situation or position health wise to do heavy workouts or heavy exercise...
    3. I read a couple of fitness forums, lot of people swear by drinking hot or warm water throughout the day and claim that it was helpful in losing weight when combined with food restriction and mild exercise,..no harm in trying ..has anyone personally benefited from drinking lots of hot water, does it speed up weight loss? Hot water combined with green tea, guava tea etc?
    Please clarify queries and give suggestions based on experience..I’m very interested in coming back to shape but I just have too many things to do which take up all time and energy which I have...so not able to follow proper routine or have a proper goal for weight loss..

    Can you list out your daily diet and lifestyle routine. That way I can understand what changes you might need to do.

    Weightloss basically comes from one rule. Maintain a calorie deficit. Calculate your calories required to maintain your current weight, and eat 200-300 cals lower each day, if this is without workout. Or eat the calories you need to maintain, and workout for 200-300 cals. When eating, include more protein food, this is because protein food takes twice as much cals to burn when compared to carb food. I am not a dietitian, but have followed this in the past, and have lost weight.

    I actually don’t have a proper food or activities routine..from morning 5.30 to 11 am I’m busy with household works, cooking and baby.half n hour nap in the afternoon if I’m tired. Not able to follow proper eating timings or exercise routine ..if I get time I’ll make food diary and list out everything.

    I have started drinking warm water through the day since past 2 weeks. Haven't seen much weight loss practically but I feel lighter not bloated or gassy. Biggest benefit is I feel full with smaller meals than before. I take a full coffee mug about 250ml water at a time especially 30 minutes before meals. It keeps me full. I also have reduced tea/coffee to only once in evening.

    For better metabolism I really like this water that I make whenever possible. In a full jug of water, add couple of lemon slices, few cucumber slices, few mint leaves, a spoonful of saunf and ajwain each. Let these seep and drink through the day. It works well

    I can totally understand your situation, doing all the chores single handedly with a baby. Our metabolism goes down as we age and the only way to improve or maintain it is through exercise. As for weight loss as someone suggested calorie deficit with help achieve it, but if you want to up your metabolism as well as keeping your health in hand you need some sort of discipline like a diet and exercise routine, both will go hand in hand. This way you can lose weight the right way and look healthy and beautiful.

    To start with download HealthifyMe app and start track your food intake, try to reduce your portion size by say 30%. Eat heavy breakfast, moderate lunch and light dinner. HealthifyMe will take care of all this. Include some healthy snacks - morning and evening snacks,it doesn’t have to fancy. Can be a salad cucumber or carrot sticks or apple or 10 almonds.Avoid eating excess amount of fatty foods, include fresh soups,fruits and salads into your diet.

    Start with an hour of brisk walk or run or Jillian Michaels hot mommy workouts (these are very basic) or other YouTube workouts like power walk with Leslie.Before you start your day early morning have half a glass of luke warm water mixed with 2 tsps of pure honey and juice on 1 lemon early morning on an empty stomach just before you start working out.Have the lemon water again in the evening an hour before eating.The lemon honey water helps with the detoxification process.As you graduate you can slowly move to advanced home workouts.Yoga also helps burn fat. It is ideal to have breakfast between 6 to 9 am and dinner after suryanamaskar between 6 to 8 pm. Sleep 2 hours after eating dinner.

    You can also apply Ayurvedic oils for fat loss, but nothing works alone. They all need to be combined - diet, workout, lemon water, Ayurvedic massage oil.

    Ayurvedic massage oil - Heat the 100 grams black mustard seed oil on stove. After heating, remove and mix 20 grams of camphor and stir it thoroughly and close with a lid. Allow it to cool down until the camphor dissolves.Apply little oil to stomach and portions where you have excess fat daily an hour before bath and massage it smoothly from top to bottom and bottom to top, and left to right and right to left.This will reduce excess fat and get you into a good shape. You can apply this oil to the whole body, except on the head. I hope this helps!
