Dear Presci, I don't know the exact timings, but i remember visiting the temple after 10 am also, when i was young... Temple is open in the evenings also... There is a website for the temple... Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple official website You can get more details from that website.. Haripad temple may close by 9.30-10.00 in the mornings and opens by 5.30 pm in the evenings..
Dear Manju, Can you tell me from chennai whether i should take alleppy or trivandrum mail. I had booked tickets for next month in alleppy. But mom said it has be taken in tvm mail. Can you please tell me so that i can book the correct tickets. Sorry for the inconvenience. Rgds, Presci
Hi Presci, Where is ur place in Kerala? If you take tickets in TVM Mail, u can get down at Mavelikkara and go to Mannarasala from there... You have buses from Mavelikkara private bus stand to Haripad and even Mannarasala... If you go by Alleppey Express, you have to get down at Alappuzha, and from there you have to go by bus or taxi to Haripad and then to Mannarasala... If you have a house at Kerala, you decide which place is nearer to you...and book tickets accordingly...
HI Manju, Thank u so much for the info. I am staying permanently at chennai. I am planning to go on 19th next month. I will book tickets to mavelikkara. Tnks once again. Luv, Presci

It is otherwise known as Pallasana or Pazhaya Kavilamman Temple, I have been looking forward for a big and clearer photo of devi in the internet to save the amma's image as my screen saver. Will you try to get a picture of amma and post it in the site. All should visit this temple atleast once to get that great peaceful feeling. -regards sunitha
Famous Five Bhagavthi Temples In Palakkad District Famous Five Bhagavathi Temples in Palakkad District. There are many Bhagavathi Temples in Kerala. The Following five temples in Palakkad District have a common story with a common Goddess : Omkarabhagavathi, Palakkad. Kaipaththi at Kallekulangara, Palakkad. Madapallikkavu, Palakkad Pallavur Bhagavathi Perungottukavu at Elavancherry, Nemmara 1. The story goes like this. Once a king (Some say the king was Samoothiri Raja who was ruling Malabar in olden days) wanted to have darshan of his favourite Goddess and did non-stop worship – Thapas. After worshipping for many years, the Bhagavathi, pleased with his devotion, decided to fulfill his wishes and asked the king to follow her by the sound of her anklets. He follows her for quite a long time and hears the sound of “OMâ€. With immense pleasure the king shouts that he could hear the Goddess. Immediately the Bhagavathi stops there. At this place the king builds a temple and the prathishta is done. This temple was known as OmkaraBhagavathiTemple. 2.Later the king follows the Goddess again and after sometime he sees the Goddess jumps into a water pond. The king shouts in joy – kandaen kayyine – (saw her hands). The king builds a temple by filling a part of the water pond where the prathishta is Goddess’s TWO HANDS. This temple is called Kaippaththi, at Kallekulangara in Palakkad. 3. The king follows the anklets’ sound goes after her. At Madapallikavu he gets the darshan of Devi’s BUST. The Prathishta is Devi’s face and chest. This place is also in Palakkad town. 4. The fourth darshan is at a village near Pallavur where the king gets the darshan of Bhagavathi’s LEGS. 5.The king was wishing to have Bhagavathi’s full darshan and follows her anklet’s sound till he was blessed by Goddess by giving full darshan as RAJARAJESWARI at Peringottukavu. This is at Elavancheri between Kollengode and Nemmara in Palakkad district. In all these temples the Goddess is same and these temples are family temples –Kuladaivam- for many Brahmins and others. 6. Meenkulathi kavu Bhagavathi : A version says Meenkulathi Bhagavathi is Madurai Meenakshi. This story is : There was a mannadiar in Pallassana who used to go to Madurai by walking to have darshan of Madura Meenakshi every year. When he was too old to walk such a long distance, he prays to Goddess his inability to have the pilgrimage due to old age and bids farewell with heavy heart. During the walk back from Madurai he felt that the his olakkuda – umbrella made of Palm leaves - was unusually heavy. After reaching Pallassana he puts down his olakkuda at the bank of a pond- (Kodimunni kulam - about a kilometer from the present temple), to have a wash. When he came back and lifted the olakkuda, he was unable to lift. The Goddess had come with him to his village to give darshan for ever. One version says that the Goddess at PallassanaMeenkulat hi kavu is the younger sister of PeringottukavuBhaga vathi. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxx
