Hope every body are fine and in good health. Sorry was away on a break. Today iam posting a spicy variety of kozhukattai that is steamed and also has very less oil. This can be had as breakfast dish or as a snack. Its very easy and simple to make.

Ingredients:

Boiled Rice - 1 cup
Salt - to taste

For seasoning:

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal - 11/2 tsp
Besan Dal - 11/2 tsp
Green chillies (chopped) - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - a sprig
Asafoetida - a pinch.

Method:

Soak rice for 3 hours and then strain water and grind in to a smooth batter similar to the consistency of idly batter by adding water in between. Now in a non stick pan, add the items for seasoning and when the dals turn golden color, add the ground rice batter and stir in low flame until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and becomes thick like a dough. now let this mixture to cool down a bit. Now smear oil in your hands and make balls out of this dough in small sizes. Now steam this in pressure cooker for 10 minutes or until they get cooked. Serve as it is or with any chutney of your choice.
