    Uppma With Oats


    • Oats - 1 cup
    • Salt - as per requirement
    • Oil - 2 tsp
    • Mustard
    • Urad Dal
    • Chana Dal
    • Green chillies
    • Curry leaves
    • Ginger
    • Onion
    • asafoetida

    • Roast oats without oil for a couple of minutes.
    • In a Kadhai, add 2 teaspoonful of oil and temper Mustard, asafoetida, urad dal, chana dal, curry leaves, green chilli, ginger and chopped onion.
    • Now add water, salt and once water boils, slowly add the oats and keep stirring till completely cooked.
    Note:

    • .You can roast some cashews in ghee and add it as as final garnish.
    • Once the tempering is done, you can add chopped onions, saute them and then add the water and oats and blend.
    • You can also add vegetables of your choice to make it tastier.

    Hello all,

    We can try making Idli with oats !

    Oats Idli
    Ingredients
    Oats - 1 Cup
    Sooji - 1/2 Cup
    Grated Carrot - 1/2 Cup
    Grated Coconut
    Curd
    Green Chillies - 2 No
    Salt

    Seasoning

    Cumin Seeds
    Mustard
    Oil
    Asfotedia
     
    Fry Upma Sooji and Oats separately and put them in a bowl. In a pan add seasoning ingredients, finely chopped green chillies, grated coconut and grated carrot and fry them with a pinch of salt. Add this fried carrot to the bowl mix it well with little salt and curd and allow them to set for 10 min.
    Grease the idli plates and add this batter and pressure cook for 10 minutes.
    Serve these idlies with ghee n coconut chutney :)

    Oats/Wheat Pongal - Diet pongal

    Ingredients:

    Fried Oats 1 cup
    Yellow moong dal 1/2 cup
    Black pepper powder 1 sp
    Cumin seeds 1 sp
    Curry leaves
    Ginger grated 1/2 sp
    Asafetida powder 1/4 sp
    Ghee 2 sp
    Salt

    Method:

    In a cooker vessel put fried oats or wheat rava and yellow moon dal together.
    Cook as usual.
    Remove from the cooker and make seasoning with the balance ingredients.
    That is all your diet pongal is ready to serve.
