Hi, i have been using tupperware for all storage purposes since long. It is food grade certified and hence there should be no issue. In fact it can be used for microwave also, however if heated, it needs to be replaced frequently.

Flip your Tupperware containers and read the recycling info. What does the little triangle say? The number and the text are important.

HDPE-2, LDPE-4, PP-5 are food grade plastics. Safe for use as food containers.
    PET-1, PVC-3, PS-6, PC-7 are not safe for food.

PC-7 denotes Polycarbonate plastics that contain BPA which has been shown to be an endocrine disrupter. When we say 'safe', it only means based on current science. Personally, I don't use plastics for food. I have replaced all food storage with glass or steel jars. Even if you use food-safe plastics, I would suggest not using them in the microwave.

true. also avoid using Tupperware lunch boxes for hot and warm meals. Cold or normal temp food is ok to keep in those lunch boxes. If you are in India, we have so many better and cheaper options there than Tupperware- stainless steel being the best in terms of durability and cost.
